Unapologetic Will Smith addresses Chris Rock Oscars slap on new album: ‘Won’t stop, my s–t still hot’

Will Smith addresses his infamous Chris Rock slap from the 2022 Oscars in his new “Based on a True Story” album — boasting that he is “back on top.”

His first track, “Int. Barbershop — Day,” features Smith’s “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff and B. Simone and includes differently-pitched voices exchanging jabs about the actor.

“Will Smith is canceled,” someone can be heard saying in the opening line.

Multiple voices gossip about Smith’s reputation and ask: “Who the f–k Will Smith think he is?” Another replies: “I ain’t never going to forgive him for that s–t he did.”

“I heard he won the Oscar but he had to give it back/ And you know they only made him do that s–t because he’s Black,” the song continues. “You wish you had a Jada Pinkett next to you / Him and Jada both crazy girl, what you talkin’ bout?/ You better keep his wife’s name out of your mouth.”

On the second track, “You Lookin’ for Me?,” Smith declares: “Took a lot, I’m back on top.”

“Y’all gon’ have to get acclimated/ Won’t stop, my s–t still hot,” the unrepentant star continues. “Even though I won’t get nominated.”

Despite his lyrics, Smith did not have to return his Academy Award for best actor for his role in “King Richard.” He won the golden statue moments after he stormed onto the stage and slapped Rock across the face for poking fun at his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who was sitting in the audience with him. The jab was about her shaved head; the actress has alopecia, which causes hair loss.

When he returned to his seat, Smith shouted back: “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth!”

Smith was, however, banned from the Motion Picture Academy for 10 years over his conduct. He made a public apology to Rock, saying in part: “I’m human and I made a mistake and I’m trying not to think of myself as a piece of s–t.”

An Oscars producer went on to say that Rock was “in shock” and claimed the comedian jokingly said backstage that he just got hit by Muhammad Ali. Smith played the boxer in the 2001 sport drama “Ali.”

Nearly one year later, Rock, 60, joked about it again during his live Netflix standup show “Selective Outrage” in March 2023.

“Everybody knows, yes it happened, I got slapped a year ago — I got smacked by this motherf—-r. And people are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts. I’ve got Summertime ringing in my ears,” he said at the time, referring to Smith’s 1991 hip-hop hit with DJ Jazzy Jeff.

“I am not a victim. You will never see me on Oprah or Gayle crying. Never going to happen … I took that hit like [boxer Manny] Pacquiao. I took it like motherf—ing Pacquiao. Did it hurt? Yeah motherf—er, it hurt.”

Pinkett Smith, 53, for her part, was “shocked” by Smith’s actions as she later revealed that the couple hadn’t “called each other husband and wife in a long time.” They married in 1997.

“I’m like, ‘What is going on right now? Keep my wife’s name out of your mouth?’ I’m really worried for Will because I don’t know what’s going on,” she told Hoda Kotb while promoting her memoir, “Worthy,” in October 2023.

They also had been separated for six years at that point.

“We’re still figuring it out,” Jada told People about the state of her marriage. “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”

Jada later clarified they gave their marriage another shot. “After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will’s side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him,” she told the Daily Mail in December 2023. “Who knows where our relationship would be if that hadn’t happened?”

The pair have two children — son Jaden, 26, and daughter Willow, 24. He also shares 32-year-old son Trey with his first wife, Sheree Zampino.

Smith has been on a redemption tour since the scandal. He has been vocal on social media — recently joining in on a TikTok trend with former “Fresh Prince” co-star Tatyana Ali — got a street named after him in Philadelphia and reunited with Martin Lawrence for 2024’s “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.”

His 14-track new album is his first full-length solo music project in 20 years, following 2005’s “Lost and Found.”
