Susan Boyle returns to Instagram for the first time in 2 years with bold new look after suffering stroke

Susan Boyle is back and looking better than ever.
The beloved Scottish songbird, who suffered a minor stroke that affected her singing in April 2022, returned to Instagram for the first time in two years earlier this week to celebrate her 64th birthday.
Boyle also teased some “wonderful new projects” that would mark her return to new music for the first time since 2019.
“Today’s a special day — it’s my birthday!” she wrote on Instagram alongside a touching video on Tuesday, April 1. “But I’ve got something exciting to share… I’m back and working on some wonderful new projects that I can’t wait for you to hear about!”
“More news will be coming very soon, but I just wanted to say how much I’ve missed you all,” Boyle, who donned a beautiful blonde hairdo with new bangs, continued. “Your support means the world to me and I’m more determined and excited than ever.”
She returned to the platform two days later to thank her fans “for the beautiful birthday wishes.”
“Thank you all so much for the beautiful birthday wishes, I’ve read so many of your kind messages and they truly mean the world to me,” she wrote on Thursday, April 3.
“It was a lovely day, and I’m feeling very grateful, especially knowing I’ve your support!” Boyle added. “There’s lots in store this year and I can’t wait to share what I’ve been working on… not long now!”
The singer took to Instagram once more on Friday, April 4, to again thank her more than 100K followers for the birthday wishes.
“I just wanted to personally thank you all for your wonderful birthday wishes over the past few days!” she wrote. “You’ve made an old woman very happy!!”
Boyle’s birthday post marked the singer’s first time back on Instagram since June 2023, when she shared a photo and video of her meeting Elton John backstage after one of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” concerts.
“Susan met the legend himself, [Elton John] last night in Glasgow at his phenomenal [Farewell Yellow Brick Road] tour,” the caption read. “A night she will never forget!”
The photo showed John, 78, standing behind Boyle with his hands on her shoulders. The short video also showed the “Rocket Man” legend hugging and kissing Boyle on her forehead.
Boyle first surprised the world in 2009 with a jaw-dropping performance of the “Les Misérables” hit “I Dreamed a Dream” on “Britain’s Got Talent.”
She debuted her best-selling first album, titled “I Dreamed a Dream,” later that year, and she has since released seven studio albums and sold more than 25 million records. Her last record, a compilation album titled “Ten,” was released in 2019.
“Fame is such a bizarre concept and has never been my motivator,” Boyle said during an interview with People in 2019. “I just want to sing for people and give them joy, happiness, suspend reality for a brief time and entertain.”
She added that she went “from being a wee unknown lady with a cat in Scotland to being recognized wherever I went,” adding, “It took some getting used to.”
In June 2023, during a return to “Britain’s Got Talent,” Boyle revealed that she had suffered a “minor stroke” one year prior. The stroke occurred in April 2022, and it affected her singing and speech.
“It feels great [to be back],” she told the crowd after once again performing “I Dreamed a Dream.”
“It’s extra special for me, actually. Because last April there, I suffered a minor stroke,” she shared.
“I have fought like crazy to get back onstage,” Boyle added, “and I have done it.”
