‘RHOBH’ alum Taylor Armstrong details late husband’s horrifying abuse before his suicide: ‘I thought he was going to drown me’

“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Taylor Armstrong has detailed the awful abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband before his shocking suicide 14 years ago.

Taylor, 53, opened up about the horrifying abuse in the latest episode of Investigation Discovery’s new docuseries, “Hollywood Demons,” according to DailyMail.com. She recounted how her late husband, Russell Armstrong, had nearly drowned her, threatened her life, and once struck her so hard that he fractured her orbital floor.

The first incident unfolded at another couple’s house as the pair were expressing concern for Taylor’s safety and well-being.

“Russell, he left, and this couple, they were very close to me and were very aware of what was going on,” the reality star claimed on the episode of “Hollywood Demons” airing on Monday, April 14. “The man said, ‘We’ll help you get out of this because this is not okay, and we’re really worried for you.’”

But Russell apparently overheard the discussion and “knocked all of [the male friend’s] teeth out” after “throwing” Taylor into the nearby pool.

“He threw me in the pool. He grabbed the man, knocked all of his teeth out, and he jumped in the pool, and he was trying to hold me under the water,” the “RHOBH” alum recalled. “I thought he was going to drown me.”

Another startling incident occurred when Russell “grabbed [Taylor] by the throat” and threatened to kill her because she served his sons “pizza without a vegetable.”

“Once his boys were visiting us, and I made them a pizza,” the reality star said. “He came into the house, grabbed me by the throat, and put me against the wall. He said, ‘If you ever serve my kids a pizza without a vegetable again, I’ll kill you.’”

The final incident, and the event that convinced Taylor to file for divorce from her venture capitalist husband, unfolded in June 2011 on the Bravo star’s 40th birthday.

Taylor had recently returned from a trip to Las Vegas with fellow reality star Lisa Vanderpump, and Russell accused his wife of cheating on him during the Sin City visit. He then struck Taylor in the face and broke the bony structure that supports her eyeball.

“It was my 40th birthday, we checked into The Four Seasons where we met, and he gave me eight pairs of my favorite shoes and a really long card and it was all about how he knew he hadn’t been a good husband and that things were going to change,” the “Hiding From Reality” author said.

“That night, after my birthday party, we were laying in bed and he said something to the effect of, I know you slept with the Chippendales when you were in Vegas,” she continued. “He just proceeded to push and push, and he would not let up.”

“He raised up, leaned over like this, and punched me,” Taylor reenacted the shocking scene. “He fractured my orbital floor, and so I went to see the doctor, and Russell went with me.”

Taylor had to undergo reconstructive surgery following the incident and filed for divorce from Russell that July. He ended up hanging himself at a friend’s house one month later. He was 47.

“There was a myriad of things that he was very concerned about, but I never thought that he would kill himself,” she admitted on “Hollywood Demons.” “Suicide never crossed my mind.”

Taylor and Russell shared one daughter, Kennedy, 19. The reality star also remarried to a successful lawyer, John Bluher, in 2014.
